August 29th marked Osage High School’s Rush Day, where students put up tables and presented their clubs to each of the classes during Elevate time. Freshmen through seniors went around the Commons to each table, members of each respective club explaining what their clubs are, what the clubs offer, and what the clubs do on a day-to-day basis.
Always Osage
Mrs. Boberg, Mr. Gier
This club’s goal is to manifest a more positive attitude and awareness to students regarding suicide, substance abuse, preventing bullying, and mental and emotional health. The Always Osage club meets twice a month during the lunch periods in the library. There is no fee to join, and it is open to everyone.
FCCLA
Mrs. Bayles
The Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America is a nonprofit organization that prepares students through family and consumer science classes, such as the Prostart and child development courses offered here at Osage High School. They strengthen the function of the family as a basic unit of society. The fee for joining is $30, which includes a t-shirt, pin, and national dues.
GATEWAY Club

The GATEWAY club gives students an opportunity to talk about their favorite books and eat lunch that’s provided and funded by the $10 to join. If reading and eating captures your attention, the GATEWAY club is the gateway to a good time. The fees are due on Tuesday, September 10th.
Future Teachers of America (FCA)

This club is for students who are interested in anything related to teaching. They sponsor all activities pertaining to teachers. The fee to join is $10. Come by the library if teaching piques your interest.
Ecology Club

“Leave the Earth better than we found it, making one great decision at a time.” Hosted by Mr. Fowler in room 302, the purpose of this club is to raise awareness of ecological issues created by humans. Their mission is to improve the environment we live in, one choice at a time. There is no fee to join.
Fusion Club

The Fusion Club is a student-run organization that unites LGBTQ+ and allied kids to build community and organize around issues that are impacting students. We are a club that strives to create a safe, welcoming and accepting space for ALL students and youth. Our goal is to have a positive and lasting effect on student health, wellness, and academic performance. Some of the activists include a boba tea party, tie dye parties, holiday parties, and more! It’s a $5 fee to join.
Le Cercle Français (French Club)

One doesn’t have to be in a French class to join the French club, a great organization that anyone can join. It’s a great way to meet new people and experience new cultures through food and fun activities. The fee to participate in French club is $5.
Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA)

The Future Business Leaders of America is for students who are preparing for careers in business. Members of the FBLA gain the edge for college and career success they need for business related careers. Members have the opportunity to compete for awards and recognition on the regional, state, and national levels in more than 50 different event categories including accounting, business calculations,m economics, entrepreneurship, personal finance, job interviews, marketing, public speaking, and more. It’s $10 to join.
Math Club

Math club encourages and fosters a love and excitement for mathematics. They attend several math competitions at different school districts and Universities. These competitions enhance your problem solving and critical thinking skills as well as provide a fun environment for mathematical insights. It’s free to join.
Interact Youth Rotary Club

Interact is an international service organization that is a branch of Rotary International. This club is student-led and will complete various service projects throughout the year. At least one service project must fulfill a community needs and at least one must be a project with global imp-act. If you have a service heart, this is the organization for you. The club will meet once a month after school with a make up meeting before school. There is no fee to join this club.
Drama Club

For only $5, you can join the Drama club, a club for students who are interested in being a part of a community of people who appreciate Theatre. Students do not need to participate in the shows at OHS but are encouraged to support the productions in some manner. Drama club hosts events throughout the year and meets at various times.
International Thespian Society (ITS)

The International Thespian Society is an honors organization for students who are involved in Theatre at Osage. Students have to have approximately 100 hours of work in the areas of Theatre and must pay the $35 fee in order to be inducted into the organization.
Competitive Speech and Drama

Competitive Speech and Drama is a MSHSAA (Missouri State High School Activities Association) activity where students travel to other schools and compete in areas of speaking and dramatic events. Students compete for individual and team trophies and have an opportunity to compete at a state level. There is no fee to participate.

DECA

DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. Join them for the Fall Conference in St. Louis, Regional Competition in Rolla, State in Kansas City, and ICDC in Orlando, Florida. You must be taking the marketing course and pay the $15 fee in order to join.
Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA)

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes is an organization that works to see the world transformed by Jesus Christ through the influence of athletes. Our relationships will demonstrate a steadfast commitment to Jesus Chris and His Word through integrity, serving, teamwork, and excellence. Their club meets every Thursday morning in the gym from 7:15-7:45. Their meetings typically involve an ice breaker game, a devotional lesson, and prayer. There is no fee to join the FCA.
All of these clubs will be available to sign up for and participate in on their designated meeting days and during Elevate periods.
