Imagine a sunny, cloudless day full of sunshine and blue sky. Now imagine the opposite. This is what the girl’s varsity tennis team had to endure, along with over half of their members gone for other activities. Despite these obstacles, one star shined above the rest: Lucy Crocker. Miss Crocker won three out of four games in her singles tournament, with scores of: 8-5 Fulton, 8-1 Lexington, 2-8 Columbia-Independent, and 8-2 Booneville, and finished second place just behind Columbia-Independent. The tournament itself was based on a round-robin system with five schools competing: Booneville, Columbia-Independent, Osage, Lexington, and Fulton. In the end, the schools, teams, and players all had fun, and time melted like a Salvador Dali painting.
