dreams are the brains way of fighting takeover from your other senses. Most dream occur during the “REM” (rapid eye movement) sleep, the brain cycles periodically during the night throughput the different phases of sleeping. Studies show our brain waves are almost as active during RREM cycles as much as when were awake. When a brain stem is injured,patients dream but dont go into REM sleep, but if the forebrain patients go into REM sleep but dont dream. Psychologist Sigmund Freud at Cleveland health clinic states If patients are taking certain medication, like some anxiety medication dreams are often altered and depressive ideas or themes are displayed.
