Over the nearly three-hour-long podcast, Katt details his experiences in the world of comedy, spirituality, and fatherhood. What has the internet most ablaze about the interview, though, is all the things he had to say about his fellow comedians.
He starts the episode by talking about his co-star on the Friday series of movies, Rickey Smiley, claiming that the First Sunday star had no actual involvement with the script and that he possesses little range, saying “Him and Tyler Perry can’t play a man to save their lives.”
After his attacks against Rickey Smiley, Katt very quickly moves on to allegations that comedian Cedrick the Entertainer had stolen one of his bits as well, saying, “He’s so bad, Shannon, that he did four comedy specials, and none of them are on Netflix or Tubi.” Katt also takes the opportunity to call Cedrick a liar at every turn.
The comedian also made sure to scorch larger names in comedy, too, however, making numerous hefty claims about Family Feud host, and former comedian, Steve Harvey, such as saying that Steve Harvey stole his story of being homeless, and well as that he tried to steal Burnie Mac’s part in Oceans 11 out from under him. The game show host has yet to comment on these allegations.
The most important allegation made on the show, however, were those regarding Kevin Hart. When asked about the comedian, Katt said, “In fifteen years in Hollywood, nobody has a memory of going to a sold-out Kevin Hart show, there ever being a line, or him getting a standing ovation at any comedy club.” On top of all these claims, Katt also stood proudly on the idea that Hart was an industry plant. For his part, Kevin took to Fox 5 in Washington DC to say, “You don’t entertain the circus. You watch it.”
However, these accusations against fellow comedians are all coming during the middle of Katt Williams, Dark Matter tour. It is entirely possible that the goal of these comments was to drive ticket sales to a concert during a traditionally slow time for the industry.
