Girls Courtwarming Candidates in Basketball

Jada Smith and Tyler Bellmer (Marysa Stoecklein)

Festivities for School of the Osage Courtwarming have been moved up a day due to dangerous temps and snow in the forecast. Two students – senior, Halle Helton and junior, Bailey Groth – have some thoughts to share about Courtwarming and the effects of the weather on their special game night.

How do you feel about the weather coming up? Will this affect anything?

-Halle: Yes, the weather sucks because it’s cold and we have to wear dresses. I think it will makes fewer people want to come to the game.

-Bailey: The weather definitely makes this challenging and is stressing us girls out because now we will have way less time to get ready since we play before we walk.

Do you feel as prepared for the Courtwarming game now that you missed your game on Tuesday?

-Halle: Yes, because we were supposed to play on Thursday anyway, so it didn’t change a whole lot for us besides us not having any time to change and get ready after our game.

-Bailey: Yes, because we are just going to all work together to try and keep the stress levels as low as possible. I think it’ll all be okay and that we are doing the right thing.

Will many fans pop out to the Courtwarming game now that they moved it to Thursday evening instead of Friday night when the weather was supposed to be bad?

-Halle: No, I don’t think as many people will show up because I know a lot of people who will still be at work and who aren’t going to be able to come, but I think there will still be a good turn out.

-Bailey: Yes, I hope everyone will still be able to come since the weather won’t be as bad since they moved the game up to prevent people being out in the weather.

How does it feel that both girls’ and boys’ basketball play on the same night rather than separate nights?

-Halle: I don’t like it only because we will only have 10 minutes to get ready after our game, and that is not very much time to do our makeup and get into our dresses.

-Bailey: I think it will be fun, but we will definitely be stressed with how little time we have in between to get ready, but I think it will all be okay.
