Making Mental Health Matter

Making+Mental+Health+Matter
It is important for schools to put effort into focusing on students’ mental health. So many kids struggle already with mental health, and going to school can make it much worse. Administrators should be pushing to support kids and help them instead of pretending mental health issues aren’t real issues at all. There should be professionals or even classes to teach and guide kids who are in the most ever-changing and confused part of their life.

Stable, positive mental health contributes to your overall health, and students must be healthy enough to learn; it will increase perseverance and decrease burnouts. This is controversial because some people completely disregard that it is such a prevalent issue for students, and some administrators or even students believe it is an insignificant issue. Having mental health professionals at the school targeting all of the student body to help work through their minds and problems would help immensely in teaching students that it is okay to feel this way. These professionals can also inform students on how to deal with poor mental health and how to work through situations. Making students believe their mental health is something they need to hide makes school a bad environment. Another solution would be to take some time off from devices in school; nowadays almost every minute of the school day is spent working on some sort of device. Taking time out of every day to go outside or having some debrief time is crucial to helping students. Administrators should consider opening time for lunch outside or hosting an outdoor class. Students need some encouragement or something to look forward to, especially because there is so much time spent in the confinements of the school.
