Nate Stombaugh

On any given day it would be absolutely shocking to see Nate doing anything without the assistance of his headphones. As he moves up and down throughout the halls it is always to the beat in his own mind. That’s why it wasn’t the least bit shocking to hear that the album that changed his life was Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd, a detailed and sprawling album that really pushed the whole rock genre forward. Nate’s love for alternative and counterculture entertainment doesn’t just stop at music, however, with his favorite book being A .45 To Pay The Rent by brutally realistic and equally talented Charles Bukowski. One might think that all of this might make Nate distasteful of authority; however, he made sure to also give praise to Dr. David Dawson in our interview, claiming that he “couldn’t have done it without him.”

Deacon Lipsmeyer
Deacon Lipsmeyer, Staff Reporter
Deacon is currently a senior at School of the Osage High School. Even though this is his first semester with the journalism team, Deacon has always been in love with writing. He remembers as a child that he used to design and write stories for comic books that he created. For the longest time, Deacon felt he wanted to be a journalist, and "after a few years of soul searching, [he] realized the dream was still alive and well" and joined the journalism team as a staff reporter and editor. Deacon has been accepted into the journalism program at the University of Missouri-Columbia and cannot wait to continue delivering the best quality journalism as he develops his skills.
