Hanna Maschhoff

We all dream about being the best at what we do, but Hannah has actually done it. Playing for our two-time state champion golf team, as well as being a state champion in the sport individually, one might think that Hannah wants nothing more than to ride out the wave of her success as far as it will take her. That simply is not the case here, though; in the fall she will be continuing her education at Mississippi State, not for their golf team, but in their golf management program. When asked how she knew it was time to move on, Hannah had this to say: “After junior year… I was just always angry or crying after a hole.” Luckily the golf season has a lengthy break in it, and in an effort to avoid the burnout that often comes with high levels of success, Hannah says, “I didn’t even touch my clubs from November to like January.” It turns out that even state champions take breaks every once in a while.

Deacon Lipsmeyer, Staff Reporter
Deacon is currently a senior at School of the Osage High School. Even though this is his first semester with the journalism team, Deacon has always been in love with writing. He remembers as a child that he used to design and write stories for comic books that he created. For the longest time, Deacon felt he wanted to be a journalist, and "after a few years of soul searching, [he] realized the dream was still alive and well" and joined the journalism team as a staff reporter and editor. Deacon has been accepted into the journalism program at the University of Missouri-Columbia and cannot wait to continue delivering the best quality journalism as he develops his skills.
