Maddy Butt

Imagining yourself ten years from now can be tough. While some people may not know for certain, Maddy Butt hopes to open her own salon located at a place with warm weather. Thinking of the future can be a tricky subject, just like dwelling on the past. When asked, “If you could go back and change one thing what would it be?” Maddy answered with her wishing she had read more in her youth. As we go on the journey of the past, we start to think of our childhood. Maddy remembers her childhood toy: her giraffe statue. She refuses to give it up because of its memorable past. Her parents once told her that her nursery was giraffe themed, so her grandma would buy her a giraffe statue every time she would visit. The one statue she decided to keep in particular is the last one she received before her grandma passed. As we go through both the future and past, we see pieces of ourselves everywhere.

About the Contributor
Montana Walters, Staff Reporter
Montana has always questioned who she is. When she was younger, she was obsessed with anything Disney, Barbie, and video games. But now Montana finds herself struggling to figure out what she is truly passionate about. She likes specific movies but expresses that even that passion fades after a while. One thing, though, has always stuck with Montana: writing. Throughout her life, she would write a lot of short stories. Most of them, she admits, were not up to par, but she slowly grew as a writer. Montana studied grammar and found herself getting better grades on essays in school. Montana says that this skill she gained helps qualify her as a news writer, as she can structure her writing better.
