I wanted to get my thoughts out about the situation with UMG and TikTok. If you haven’t heard, UMG pulled all their artists’ songs off TikTok recently, and UMG has a lot of big artists under their name. Their contract ended a week ago, and due to disagreements, UMG decided to not renew their contract with TikTok. This could be good and bad. TikTok has been the main source of advertising songs recently, and now it could be detrimental to artists as they wont be able to advertise their songs on TikTok anymore. It could also be good, as many more small artists could start to get recognition. I am personally sad about it, as a lot of my favorite songs won’t be on there anymore. We just have to wait and see if a new contract will be made, or if this is how it is going to be.

Montana Walters, Staff Reporter
Montana has always questioned who she is. When she was younger, she was obsessed with anything Disney, Barbie, and video games. But now Montana finds herself struggling to figure out what she is truly passionate about. She likes specific movies but expresses that even that passion fades after a while. One thing, though, has always stuck with Montana: writing. Throughout her life, she would write a lot of short stories. Most of them, she admits, were not up to par, but she slowly grew as a writer. Montana studied grammar and found herself getting better grades on essays in school. Montana says that this skill she gained helps qualify her as a news writer, as she can structure her writing better.
